There's a map that I'm working on, and I kinda want it to have a coruscant skybox. Like the sunset over coruscant map, or the cloud city skybox made by LivingDeadJedi. So does anybody know how that can be done.

You can rip the sky of my Coruscant Sky mod that's currently not being developed anyways. (it was kinda a sandbox for me to play in with dynamic glow and shit :) )

From what I read... it's typically what you need. Though... while building with this sky... you have to make everything on the bottom of your city black. And cover it up with traffic or something lol

Anyways... you can try devmap CoruscantSky to look at my sandbox :) and see what I mean.

btw... if the skybox eats to much FPS for your taste... I could edit the shader to disclude the cloudelayer.

One way to do it is to create a miniature skybox somewhere off to the side of the main map, then build as many miniature buildings and anything else you want to simulate the cityscape. Once your mini area is complete, stick a misc_skyportal entity right in the middle of it, and that mini area will become the huge skybox for your real map area. Just look at t2_rogue (the SP map) for an example :nodding:.

You could ask Mercenary, the author of the "Eve of Redemption" mod (skybox snapshot attached). I guess he's still around every now and then on lucasforums. Who knows, maybe he'll be so kind to give you some hints. Just google for "eve of redemption" mercenaryHe's also once posted a tutorial at lf about making skyboxes out of maps.

The skybox used by LivingDeadJedi's cloud city was rendered with Lightwave using models from scifi3d. I'm not certain which program rgoer made his Sunset over Coruscant skybox. The skybox I made for Eve of Redemption was done with Vue 6 infinite using team-dystopia's scifi buildings. If you don't have expensive 3d software you can still create city skyboxes with the resources you already have. I wrote a tutorial on how to do this a few years back:
