its illegal to do that if the map your wanting to edit isnt one you created yourself you will have to decompile the .bsp map file, to a .map file
how do i do that
get q3map2 into your base folder. Then you write in your cmp cd.. cd.. So that you get to "C:/" Then u write: cd program files/lucasarts/star wars jedi knight jedi academy/gamedata/base then you write: q3map2 -convert -format map -game ja mapname.bsp
i would reccomend against that :) not only do you offend the mapper that worked hard to make the map. But you will also end of with tons of stretched pathes and brushes..errors up over yer ear..light will be gone and models will disappear..unless they are spawnflagged 2..then theyll turn into brushes..texture less brushes... so yea :)

although all lighting will be gone and all textures messed up
=_= Wow, just dont do it. Its horrible when you open it. but since my old computer crashed and the motherboard got fried, i have to decompile my maps to edit them...and if your gonna do what Im doing, to your own maps, then use Q3Map2Toolz. Takes a bit of trickery to install for jk3, but hell, it has a one click decompiler. Well, its for JKO, but you just make some proxy folders, a text file renamed to an exe to trick it into thinking you got jk2 installed, you get the picture.
