I'm doing a UI and menu overhaul. I've made good progress on the style and imaging, but I'm at a loss as to how to change the font colors. I want to darken all the font colors and change their hues a bit, for a better and more coherent palette. I assumed it would just be a shader somewhere but I couldn't find one.

Any help here would be hawt. ;)

UI elements can be recolored with the forecolor keyword in their element description (i.e. the .menu files)

Transparent red text:

itemDef { name herp text "Derp" descText "A herpin derpity" type ITEM_TYPE_BUTTON rect 320 240 64 24 forecolor 1 0 0 0.5 visible 1 }

I meant the text colors ingame that are made by ^1, ^2, etc.

Edit: oops, I didn't make that clear at all in my post. Sorry!

On another note, how do I control the pulsing white highlight on UI text when it's the last item touched?

1) I think u can't change ^1 ^2 etc without a new mod with MP SDK. 2) focusColor in the menuDef (R G B A)

Yeah, the ^1, ^2 etc. colors are hard-coded into the engine and would require a client mod to change the palette. If you just want to darken them though you can just darken the font images in the fonts/ folder and also the console font image gfx/2d/charsgrid_med.png.

Damn, :S that blows. I actually wanted to change the colors also, make green a dark blueish color and rejig the other ones around, too.

Oh well.
