Everything's listed in the Master Sticky at the top of the Modding and Editing forum, so you should check in there. Just click the Master Sticky link, and then click Tutorials and Tools when that post has loaded.

The program you'll need to use for mapping is GtkRadiant 1.4.0. As for tutorials, well, everything you'll need to know about just mapping is in the Tutorials and Tools thread.

And if 1.4.0 doesnt work for you, as it doesnt for me, you can use 1.3.13. 1.4.0 makes all the textures white. Just completly white, which i found out was somehow linked to my graphics card.

Or, alternately, use 1.5.0, which, since it's completely rebuilt, doesn't suffer from the same problems as 1.4.0.

And if your new, like newbie new. Dont be afraid to ask around for advice on mapping. I will always be glad to lend out advice! And they have 1.5.0 available now? Last time I checked it was very unstable!

There's an updated build which is available right on the front page of www.qeradiant.com.

It's quite stable, still has issues, but then that's why it's still a BETA, and why they're measuring it in build numbers as opposed to versions.

Still last time I used 1.5.0 months ago.. I didnt trust it, it kept crashing when i was compiling etc.. 1.4.0 works fine, but I am yet to see if they improve on stable issues, I wont upgrade yet because its still in beta.. And I was using the very early 1.5.0 which still gave a bad impression to me..

Well, I've been using 1.5.0 for quite a while now, and it lets me do a lot of stuff that would crash 1.4.0.

Still, it's best to use both versions and alternate between as needed. And yes, you can install them both at once, since they install to different default directories.
