Ok first I want to start off by saying that I am a mapper so I know about shaders, file extension, etc and not using .jpeg but using .jpg. I got all that stuff down. But it seems I just can't peice together a reskin of the Rodian model that I am making for my clan.
Here is what my .pk3 looks like... I also included the contents of a .pk3 that DOES work from another skinner... I chose a simply one, a very poor kyle reskin that is just black and white, to insure that I got the most simplest file directory and that it matched mine.

As you can see, it matches the files in my .pk3.
Anyway: the diagnostics.
When loaded in game I:
1. Don't see it in the player list 2. (used /model pk_rodian) Got the kyle model
I don't mind if the end result is overwriting the default rodian, although I would prefer to let my clanners choose if they use my skin.
Also, I named it aaa_PkRodian_Pande so that it would overwrite the assets pk3's. I tried zzz_PkRodian_Pande just incase this engine is different. :p
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
Looks like you've got your icon and your GLM, so I guess the stupid question is did you actually save it in your base folder?
Yup. The .pk3 file is located in /gamedata/base just like all my other stuff, like my custom maps.
Anyway, new stuff.
Got rid of problem number two, I now have the rodian model but with the grey and white grid for textures. And still no profile image. (I did manage to get that really early on but I don't remember how... and at that point it still gave errors, gave me normal rodian/default skin)
What did you change to get the model to show up?
Do you have any shaders or anything included?
Sounds like it is conflicting with the games shader assighn to the skin instead of your try chaging the shader and the path to it I'm not sure how else to explain it
Nope just changed the textures. Basically here is the system of events I followed to get this to show up with a model:
extracted .pk3 to base, and removed .pk3. (I now have gamedata/base/models/players/pk_rodian)
Removed folder, added .pk3. Got model again.
Odd because it wasn't working before adding that model folder, but now it is and base is just the same as it was before.
And no, there are no shaders. I may be making some later but not now for sure. Gotta get textures working first. :p
Btw.. went and looked at Rodian Racer .pk3 too... same as mine, only with more textures and stuff. Same model_default.skin file, model.glm, etc.
Edit: sorry angelis didn't see your post. So I should create a basic shader for my skin, basically with each stage just being map models/players/skinimage.jpg?
And what do I do to fix my profile image disapearing?

Do not create a shader for your skin unless it needs one for whatever effect you're making. If you're not adding texture effects you don't need a shader.
Pande, upload your PK3 somewhere and PM me a link (if you PM it, you'll avoid people like Angelis giving you extraneous and unhelpful advice).
