I finally got JKA saturday, and beat the mediocre SP mode in about 10 hours. So I decided to make some SP maps for JKA and was wondering what some of the things that I'll have to unlearn from JKO SP mapping.

You don't need to unlearn anything, it's all the same principles. Sure, some things have been moved around a little, but it's nothing you won't figure out easily.

Just make sure you use GTK Radiant 1.4.0, available from EFFiles.com. It's a hell of a lot superior to JK2 Radiant :).

Yeah, I've been using GTK for two months (at least) now, and learned it's waaay better than JK2. The thing that sold me the most was mouse-wheel spin zoom. It felt better than using the insert and delete to zoom. I did tinker with some ui's and they don't look too different from JKO's. It's just more tedious to force a player model. Now I just need to figure out a method I like for terrain creation, cause I think height maps just 'feel' wrong. I think it's because adding in caves and overhangs is kinda annoying. Map ideas I have been playing with for a little bit: 1. Remaking a DF II sp level, just because I've played that game way too much and have all the levels memorized now (except some of the bigger ones later on) 2. Doing a Qui-Gon level. This one's going to have a hard story to develop since I'm shying away from cliched mod stories like, "Oh no, thousands of Sith have popped out of no where. KILL THEM ALL!!!" 3. This is the one I've developed the most. 8 years after RotS, an early Rebel Alliance has staged a rebellion on Naboo. The Emperor doesn't like this (I mean, he is kind of a power-hungry a-hole) and so as the leader of Vader's 501st squadron, you must crush the rebellion on Naboo (with the help of Vader and a lot of stormies, of course). I plan on some fun little plot twists like... oops, rambling again... 4. Another one I've played with is being a republic trooper in the Mandalorian Wars. Only problem here, of course, is that would involve a LOT of fun re-skinning and modelling. I think I'll pass on that one... And there's some ideas I have that I'm willing to do at some point (becoming a MP mapper?! There's already plenty of those!) and was wondering which one you almost normal people out there think I should do as my first project. Or basically, which one you don't care if it got horribly, horribly butchered. Wheee! Long post. I need to go map now...

You should do my idea. Do a SP campaign from a stormtrooper's perspective ;)

That'd be neat. I'd do it if I could learn to map well enough and teach myself to script.

Go for the third idea if that's what you have been developing the most. That's a sign it's the idea you like the most. Decent SP projects invariably take a long time to build, so you must love the idea even after half a year of mapping.

Besides, it's always nice to see Vader. Familiarise yourself with AK's "Enter the Dark Lord" project, because it might guide you to good resources considering all things Vader.

Inyri ForgeI'd do it if I could learn to map well enough and teach myself to script.

Learning scripting will be a breeze for you, milady.

Yeah I agree, scripting is easy and fun. Even I can do it. Not very well, mind, but I can. So for someone with your level of experience, it'll be a total breeze.

Then you can make a kick ass SP campaign for us to play ;).

Yeah, I was going with that idea because I already had my ui's set up for it, so I guess anybody have a differing opinion would have been irrelevant. :p I think I'll post plot for it so some people could help with story refinement. But I have homework, so that can wait for an hour or so.

OK, I finished my homework. Here's my plot: (possible text crawl) The Naboo Insurgence 8 years have passed since Palpatine has become Emperor of the new GALACTIC EMPIRE. The EMPIRE'S tyranny, however, has sparked rebellion throughout the galaxy. The rebellion has reached the important mid-rim trading world of NABOO, and Palpatine plans to make an example of NABOO to discourage the rebels. DARTH VADER and his elite 501st squadron have been dispatched to NABOO. The battle of NABOO may be the most important battle for the rebels. Defeat may forever thrust into darkness... (Actual mod plot) Mod starts with a shot on a Star Destroyer (better find a model for that) and zooms onto the bridge where Vader and Palpatine have a talk. Palpatine wonders if Vader can truly raze the homeworld of his former wife, Vader says he can, and camera shoots to the troop area, where Diran, Karuk, Guren, and Ruik of unit 52, the 501st's elite commando squadron, are stationed. They learn that General Farsh, leader of the Naboo rebellion, is based in ruins north of the Horad forest. Diran, you, plans an assassination on Farsh, and his troops move out on a troop transport. Naturally, they get shot at and crash a few kilometers short of the target LZ, in a ravine, with no cover. Now they have to move 6 km through a rebel infested forest to reach their target. That's the begging cutscene. Things I want to do is have Unit 52 consist of old, former ARC troopers that participated in the Clone Wars and are starting to feel pangs of guilt for their part in the Jedi Massacre. Things that would make me happy: -Someone to make a forest-camo skin for the stormie -Someone to make a new sniper rifle model. The current one doesn't feel like one the Empire would have. -Someone that could make a skin of the Clone Trooper face and replace the stormie helmet with it. By face, I mean face and not helmet. ;) -Someone that could help refine the story -Someone that could answer scripting questions I might have that could give away important parts of the story. Anyway, those that want to help with story refinement, I'll send you a PM with the full story so not everyone sees it. It'll probably be longer than you think...

I'll help with story refinement, just don't let me write the dialogue scripts, or it'll be ropey .

But yeah, I can advise on general plot.
