I have modeled a saber and uv mapped it. Converted it to md3 format with out any problems. I load it into md3 viewer and it looks fine, the texture is there, no problems. I export it to .glm and put it in my pk3 that has all the right files and right directories(.sab, .skin, etc.). When I look at the saber in game however the texture is missing. I've tried importing the .skin file while the md3 is loaded in md3 viewer, however I get an error saying: Unable to find surface name "W_saber" in model C:\models\weapons2\saber_10\saber_10.md3 I have checked the model info box and it says under surfaces w_saber = saber.jpg before i try to import the skin so I do not know why it gives me that error. Again, I have checked and re-checked to make sure the path in the .skin file is correct. I have followed the lightsaber crafting tutorial and still it does not work.
In gmax, when your saber/cylindar/whatever is selected, change the name to saber_w instead of the default "Cylinder01". That will work if you used the default .skin file that virtue gave you in his tutorial. (I'm assuming that was the tutorial you used)
If it doesn't work, open your .skin file and change the saber_w,models\blah\ to your saber's name in gmax,models\blah
The name was already w_saber, so that is not the problem. The .skin file says w_saber,models/weapons2/saber_10/saber.jpg
