Ok, first of all, there aren't many HUD-making tutorials out there, and I tried Google. It failed miserably. But in terms of lifebars in the game, I always wanted to make horizontal ones instead of the traditional curved ones. I've seen some made a-la-Metal Gear Solid like in this screenie I took:
I adjusted the brightness and contrast so you could all see. The life meter is horizontal, and I find that cool. What I don't like about it is that the life meter also contracts itself. Instead of being depleted, it just becomes shorter at a certain point of health, like at half. What made it BLAH is that the LIFE letters were in the bare, making them contracted, too. I want to know how to make a HUD with horizontal life meters and a bar that gradually depletes itself instead of getting shorter if arrived at half or 3/4 of health.
Thanks in advance!
If you can code I can say give it a try... But JA is made not for the use of custom huds as bars...
The only part you can adjust if you do it right is how they look... If you look in the assets1 pack you see what I mean... All things are in in different way... You need to keep on those or fail miserably...
Believe me if it was that easy someone allready did... You are not the first asking this... But believe me unless you can recode a part of the engine... (What probably is not released to public... Ask Kouen... He knows that lol) than forget it to do it this way...
Srr to dissapoint you
Oh and also... Placing them somewhere else is not possible... The left hud side is the only side in and gets mirrored to the right
Then how was the MGS HUD icon placement arranged, then? This is really weird. Rayden, I'll send you the HUD, since I added you on my MSN. You'll see.
Seems like a rewriting script than... Hmm someone was able to tweak it than I guess... Show me the hud and I'll see what I can dig out of it...

Well, I'm not sure about how to do exactly what you want, but for a very good general HUD tutorial, go here www.phpbbserver.com/expandedbanana and find the tutorials. Oh, and what Rayden said isn't technically true.
I would recommend borders for the stuff.
