Well after some help from the community, I am taking my very first project on. Simple question...what would be the best way to make a team icon for my skins? I have the actual backgrounds (the blue, default, and red). I'm just wondering what the best way is to get a picture of the specific skin, team colored, onto that specific red or blue or even default background icon. Any suggestions folks?
I would reccomend taking a picture on it from the front, "cg_thirdpersoncameraangle X" where X is the angle, problably 90 or 180. Next, take the picture into photoshop or GIMP or whatever and use the pen tool to cut it out. Give it a slight edge blur, then put it over your background layer.

If you're lazy, it's easier to take screenshots in ModView and simply use the magic wand tool to select the background and delete it. Since it's a single color it's far easier to delete than to manually remove the background in a screenshot.
The down-side is that it shows the skin as seen in mod-view, so if you have any special effects (shaders, for instance) you're probably better off using bobaandy's method.
I did actually do that Inyri with ModView. I just was wondering if I had any other options to explore and such and stuff before I made a final choice on what to use. I intend to use the same method for all of my skin icons and such but thanks a bunch as usual guys!:)
