Listen up! IGL infrastructure work is practically done and the Human Resources department will be accepting staff applications from here on out! If you are passionate about video games and competition, would like to make a difference in the gaming industry, or would like to try something new, ring us at JOBS@PLAYIGL.COM We're currently looking for people to fill these positions: - Live Producers - Shoutcasters / Commentators / Game Analysts - Game Admins (Call of Duty, Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield 3 and Jedi Academy) - Marketing Associates - Support and forum admins - Graphic Artists - C++ Developers (minimum 2 years experience, gaming background an asset) - Web Designers If you don't think you fit in the above positions, we still want to hear from you. Being part of IGL's staff is extremely easy thanks to our new system, so feel free to send us an email with as much information as possible! See you on the flip-side! NOTE: Being staff requires a minimum of 16 hours per week dedicated to IGL. IGL is searching for Jedi Academy admins, shoutcasters, coders, editors and people to create custom maps / adjust maps (mappers). Website: International Gaming League | Facebook To give you an idea: Jedi Academy - Robert vs. 40oz 1vs.1 - Livestream TEST #1 - YouTube IGL launches in Jan 2012. This is one of the best and last chances JK:JA is going to get to revive some of it's activity and gain a professional status. You may want to have a serious look at it. The JA department will be an experiment for 1 season (6 months). After that there will be decided whether IGL goes through with Jedi Knight Academy (and if games such as CTF will be added). During the first season IGL will hands out just as many prices to JKA as to games such as Counter Strike. There will be professional broadcastings and livestreams. IGL will provide people with more than just someone talking while a game is being played! IGL will also expand towards EU quite quickly. We can make IGL the professional JKA platform on an international level! Mail if you think you can help (really, any help would be great)! : JOBS@PLAYIGL.COM Hugo (IGL Media Department).

Just out of interest, what would the C++ programmers be required to do?

Your facebook page is your website?

Considering you're calling this a 'job', what's the entry pay rate?

And isn't being paid for mods a bit like selling mods i.e. legally shady?

I emailed them, and it turns out that they aren't paying modders, but they are giving out cash prizes for winners of league games.

I'm hesitant about these 'competitive' matches, as they hardly consider variables that drastically change gameplay, such as: game type, mod used, location-based damages, SP/MP collisions/damages, server FPS, etc. You're likely to lose a lot of potential players if you only cater to the 'base' communities

Aside from that, I'd also like to know what you'd need (C++) programmers for.

Well I did some poking, and it seems that they need C++ coders in order to prevent cheats from being used. They supposedly needed 2 coders for Source. When I questioned them about using VAC, they mentioned that their service doesn't work over VAC. When I asked them why that is, when server trackers and xfire video works without a problem, they didn't reply.

It's been two days or so. Got the emails, I can copy-paste them here if anyone is interested.
