Hey, I'm making a map for single player and I ran into a problem. How do I get the player to spawn as a certain character? Also, Can I spawn with certain forcepowers? For instance, the player will be playing as Darth Vader. Someone has made me the model and I have it in my base folder. I want it so that when the level starts your model as Darth Vader with certain Force Powers. I'm not sure if you are sposed to put a key and value in Worldspawn or in the Info_Player_Start. So if anyone does know the key and value of this could you help me out? Thanks.

For JKA the player always seems to start as the character chosen on the select screen. You can make a script to change the player into an NPC, but it will only fire when you hit the trigger, not when the level starts.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

They're only modifiable via NPC files (with the playerModel method), or via cheats. You can just write a quick script to run the cheats to modify them, and place a trigger on top of the spawn point so that it fires right away. (And yes, I did try that for the model switch question. It doesn't work, you have to step out of the trigger then back in for it to initialize.)

well no, lol i feel bad you had to type all that, thanks tho, I kinda know the cheats, I want to know if i canpossibly activate the cheats upon spawning without making a script. I was wondering if you can put like a key and value in world spawn or infoplayer start that would activate the cheats like an example would be "Key: cheats Value: setforceall 10" thats what im looking for, thanks tho

You could try: Key: setforceall Value: 3 I doubt it would work though. All you need to do for the script is make a cfg file which will fire them, then make a trigger on the spawn point which will exec the cfg file. Then when you spawn - BANG! Config file executed. :) (PS: Don't try setting force higher than 3. It gives weird and maybe cool effects, but they don't all function how they would normally.)

Not true. I don't know how to do it, but I've seen it done before. Ask someone like Lassev, or Larry McBruce. They ought to know how to do it.

Target the info_playerstart to a target_scriptrunner. Make a script to set the forcepowers however you want to set them. It's easy enough to spot the particular script commands used for setting force powers. If you have never scripted before, go learn some basic scripting first, then come back.

What comes to forcing a single player player model, it can be done if you are willing to release your level as a mod. The other way, the script command, is often mentioned, but it seems to lose the custom skin when you save and load the map, so it's a desperate measure.

For the fully working mod way, have a look at this tutorial.
