It's already been discussed the legal stuff, and now we're just pretty much talking about how it's not going to happen. I'm not one to discourage mods but really, this is just a waste of time and resources. I'm just trying to say this is probably not going to be the fly that makes it to the moon.

And it has nothing to do with JK3 anymore, it's not even based on the same fluggin' engine. So, eh, how are you going to get support or something?

Indeed it does seem like the wrong forum for this. Though, promotion is something they'll be needing :/ (Plus, they're actually getting off their ass and doing something)

Okay, I've definately got to agree with him on that. Though the chances of survival aren't likely, I'm interested to see how this works.

Just a heads up, the project's website is going to be moving to a new location at www.nebulacorestudios.com. There is a splash page there now, and the site should be fully up soon.

Also, the XReal engine we are using is a premade derivative of the Quake 3 engine. It is still branched off of JK3. Regardless though of whether or not it's still a JK3 project, we very much appreciate the forum space we have here. Thanks to filefront for allowing us to stay.

Interesting, considering the number of valuable contributions this thread has seen. Ah well, suit yourself. Good luck with your undertaking (sincerely).

GlitchMasterShmit;5002742Modifying the engine = illegal.

Jedi Academy is illegal then...

I understand that you guys think that it's dead, just because nothing is happening on this thread, yeah, I must admit it's the same thing happening to me on another project, well, it's just a "recruitment thread", as the forum said in it's own description, "Looking for a Modder?,...", but now I'm sure someone will say "yeah you are totally wrong because it's dedicated to JK3 and not another game blah blah blah...", so, now I think we are full, not sure enough to ask someone to lock this thread.

And for the project, I still consider it as a game, not a mod and neither a total conversion. If I was afraid about your legal issues, then this thread should not be living haha... Don't forget that LA are just doing something called TOLERANCE for total conversions, not GIVING RIGHTS.

We will open another thread on the JK3 Off-topic section to announce some important stuff, as this project is Open Source, I really want to make the multiplayer side public in order to let the players test the game and make the mappers able to use the new tools we would provide, but not now, we will do it once we are ready for this.

Jedi Academy is not illegal. Ravensoftware had legal permission to modify the Quake III engine. You do not, nor will you get it, you're third party. They don't just go around handing out permission to mod their precious engines.

LA has tolerance for Total Conversions for their GAMES... last time i checked Xreal was an engine and not a game.

What are you talking about. The id Tech 3 engine source code was released under the GPL, which allows third-parties to release their modification of the engine (e.g. XReal Engine). So yeah, they did just go handing out permission for everyone to mod their precious engine.

Actually Raven Software had a commercial exploitation license for iD Tech 3, so by that point iD probably didn't give a rat's arse what they did or didn't do as they'd already gotten their cut of the profits.

They'd be right in saying this subforum is only for JK3-related projects, but frankly you got some leverage through relevance, and let's face it there's bugger all else interesting going on 'round here.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Eltran;4979882 Lol, you guys really think I must make a mod ? What if I make a simple dumb fps game and make this Star Wars as it's own mod, no more legal issues ? Too easy, eh.
yeah... except that...you alread tryed that ;) community didn't give enough attention...
What the hell is wrong with making it a total conversion off of jk3's modding and editing? Why did you feel you had to go screw it up by using a complete different engine. Not to mention that if you do it doesn't even belong here anymore. This is a JK3 forum, not your little Xreal or whatever engine that's so fantasticly super amazing.

lolz, yo iz trolling?

I just wanna see an equivalent to JK3 with improved physics, npc setup and newer shaders. Well... Eltran has already donne most of these on JK3 itself except for the shader part (but it seens xreal comes with it by default) so.... meh...
