OK i just found out my dad had a legit copy of lightwave, so does anyone know if this would be desirable to mod JK3 with? Right now i use Gmax, and just by looking at lightwave it looks little bit easier to model with does anybody know if this is true?
Easier is a point of view... A lot of people find 3DSMax easier to use, but I personally think that Maya is the easiest to use... As for the rest of your post, I haven't got a clue. I don't have lightwave, nor do I intend on getting it... Maya works for me. :p
Its possible but difficult. You will have to do alot of converting between different file types. If you want to make player models search eclypse's weighting tutorial. You're probably better off with GMax and 3Ds Max or if you can get it. Its expensive though.

ok.......... i'm probably gonna stick with Gmax for stuff like lightsabers and stuff, i may get 3ds max, though it costs alot of money(of course so did lightwave...........)
I've personally been using blender when working with the Clone Wars mod, mainly because I can't afford anything else. Would you be interested in working with us? We're having a proper media blitz in a few weeks but our development forum is up (follow my sig). Details on the mod are in our information section. You'd just need a few pictures of work you've done and, most likely, the others will accept you (if its of good quality).
i would though im currently overwhelmed with other mods/games, im helping a game be made which is number one priority, and some other mods have asked for some random models, so im going to try to help them out. plus im still a little bit new to modeling, so they wouldn't be like amazing quality either
You all neglected to mention XSI|Mod Tools, which is designed pretty much specifically for gaming purposes, and is free.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
