Hey guys--

I'm looking for a coder for a project (otherwise unrelated for JK3) and since the engine is very similar to Idtech4, which is what we're using, I figured I'd ask since I used to have really good luck with the JK3 scene.

PM me please! Thanks.

There are major differences between iD Tech 3 and iD Tech 4, it was essentially a rewrite. If it's similar to an engine that isn't similar to the one we use, you won't have much luck here =p

What Raz0r said. id Tech 4 isn't even written in the same language as JA is, the UI is totally different, there's a full blown physics and shadow engine, all entities are scripted, there's virtually nil client/server differentiation in the vms, the model format is totally different, and I wouldn't even touch it with a long stick because of how nasty the code is. So what exactly does it have in common with JA again? Archive format, maybe and that's it? (Out of curiousity, what is your project and what do you know about id Tech 4, formats, etc and what content have you made?)

Hi guys--Let me address one thing at a time. Hostility!

I know it's vastly different. That said, it IS still based on the same basic principals and Is EASIER to use. Having known only the previous engine, I was able to pick it up--fully including all the tools--in a few days.

I'm also aware of the differences and that's why I'm using that engine. The only reason I'm posting here is because, as I said, I know there are good modders in the JK3 community and I'd like to tap into that resource and find some fun guys.

Content I've made includes maps and some small code changes (iron sights, some graphical tweaks, I can only do so much.) I'm approaching systematically instead of trying to take it all at once.

Let me be clear: I'm not looking for anybody for a full time commitment, it's just a cool fun thing to do that if they like the project can get behind.

Depends on the project. We still haven't gotten any details regarding the project you're after.

If it's something that sounds interesting to you, PM me an I'll let you know more details from there.

Obviously no commitment is required at any point.
