First, hello to everyone. As you can see Im new to this Forum... smilie.gif

Second. One thing I always want to change in JK/JKA is the fact that decals like blasterimpacts, saberwallmarks, debris from explosions etc. disappear very quickly. Often in JKA you come back to places where you have been minutes ago, fighting some stormies or cultist-freaks. To make the boodies stay is no problem and doesnt affect a mid-end pc from today in its performance at all.

But it takes away the "combat immersion" if the traces of former battles are gone - at least for me.

One reason why I ask for this today is because I found out about the fantastic "Ultimateweapons" Mod which adds just awesome and real-looking effects to the game.

Long story short - is there a way to make decals stay longer/forever? Does it afford some in-depth coding stuff or can it be done quickly via extracting a few files and editing them via notepad?

If I'm not mistaken, each blast mark takes up an entity.

If I'm right, though, it makes it unreasonable to do so. You'll have a lot of server crashes. Not to mention when there's more than 256 rendering entities visible, things get truncated. Most maps tend to run several hundred rendering entities at any time.

Probably not possible, sorry. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thank you so far, but I was thinking more of a SP mod for myself. I dont play JKA MP, it sucks...

There are cvars for it.

cg_marks, cg_saberdynamicmark and cg_saberdynamicmarktime. Never tried them though.

Seriously. It really sucks if you want to see/play/live authentic Star Wars Lightsaber battles (like me). In JKA its nothing else than jump&slash, cutting nothing than air in 99% of the time. There arent much ppl who at least TRY to play "realistic".

I mean: No Saber throw, no jumping around like a crazy frog, no excessive force using during a Duel and the most important thing - not running around! Ive never seen someone running during a duel. Not in SW, not in a real Swordfight...

And even IF you try to play/fight like this - and your opponent too - JKA will ruin your plans of having a nice, semi-realistic fight. because the auto-block system sucks... sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes you get hi, sometimes on christmas santa claus is wearing pink... no, really it doesnt work like it should. OJP tried to change this, but I have the feeling they want too much and messed it up (or Im too stupid or lazy to understand/learn this system)

back to topic: @^Pirate I know about these commands, tried them all years ago but they didnt work for me. But I will try cg_saberdynamicmarktime again, maybe I forget this one...

Now, I WILL say that I think Raven's timeout on the marks is a bit too low, but they were trying to stop the game from crashing on people.

If you up the limit, the more likely a crash will be.
