Ok I have the NPC tool, and i want to make a non-player (a model that doesn't move) a spawnable npc.

So i got the .ase, changed it to model.glm, placed it in a models>players>Gate folder Then after i got it to show up in the NPC tool, i made it a .npc, and put it in a ext_data>npcs folder Since i got that model from a downlaod with a bunch of other things, i put all of those folders in my pk3. (things like textures and pictures that i might be missing). Still doesn't work. I made my own room, and tried it. A person said that it might be because i dont have a .skin file for it If thats the problem, can someone please tell me how to make a .skin file for a model. If its not the problem, can someone tell me what im doing wrong?

Well, is problem in skin or NPC?

.skin files are text documents which contain... place of each picture, like: hips,models/players/kyle/kyle_legs.tga (that was random)

As you can see, there are pieces of models (hips), and each has its picture (kyle_legs.tga). Skin will not show properly if .skin file doesnt lead model to load pictures from needed location.

hm..ok the error i get is "Cannot spawn NPC Gate" (gate is teh name of my npc im trying to make)

That is problem in NPC, not in .skin file :P Its probably because.. hmm... well, it has to be in .pk3 and did you put 'gate' to be name in the most first row on left piece of window in NPC Tool, or in second/other row? Or you put it as first name? o_0

Or maybe you failed at this step. I can't imagine converting an ase to glm would be easy and simple. Lots of things could go wrong.

Ok thanks for the help, this is what im doing with the npc tool gate is the name of the .npc, and i click make a new npc. It puts a little sub folder thing underneath gate.npc. I click appearence, and select gate as my PlayerModel. i Click Miscellaneous and put the fullName as gate. i leave the snd stuff alone (i dont know what it stands for). I go to Behavior and crank up health (i want it indestructable). I click the save button.

Now, i go to base folder, find the ext_data>npcs>gate.npc then, to place the model, I make a folder directory; models>players>gate>model.glm

thats the only stuff i have in my pk3 is that ok? what do i need to add/change?
