alright i'm back, here not with an idea but a question, do map objects have a poly limit if not what would be a reasonable poly on a map object? everything i'm making i try to keep under the 1k mark (1000)

I'm unsure as to the limit, but I'll go with the 1k figure.

You really should be keeping everything as low-poly as possible, and you really shouldn't need anywhere near 1000 polies on a simple map object.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

584 polys on a Candlebra with 5 candles, 744 if it has flames, i'm not sure if this is good or bad, i could make it differently. reduced: without flames = 564 flames = 724

That's really really steep for a chandelier.

And as for the flames, you don't need to model them. You can add the fire effect when making the actual map, like Inyri did in her recent NWN map (to name one example).

now if somone could tell me how to use the spolier tag, it might help me a bit or how to take proper images in gmax, since i'm lazy and my 3dsmax is a pain to use.

well everything on it has 4 or 5 sides so i could drop it to 4 and 3 in some cases i'd just need some good shader and nice texture, what you think?

A 5-sided cylinder is 10 polies. Therefor I think 700 polies is an outrageous number of polies. :nodding:.
