hi there!

my name is spaan - and i have a little problem. i don't know how to modify models. i tried it, reading all these tutorials - but i'm not good at it. so i decided to write this post. maybe one of you can help me!

the background: a friend of mine had the idea to make a short starwars-fan-movie. we plan to film a lightsaber duel (him and me fighting), and make intro and outro using jka (filming ingame scenes).

what we need for that are models that physically resemble us - so that i could reskin them. did i explain that well enough? i'm sorry, my english isn't that good...

well, i'll just tell you what i need:

- a model for the evil sith lord: that should be a desann - combined with robe and hood... but that's not sure yet. i'll explain that in more detail if anyone of you should decide to help me...

- a model that resembles myself right; and that would be a combination of neomarz's & jashugan's brilliant darthmaul- (body) and quigon-models (head)

maul-body (without robe/hood): http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/MaulVM;43366 quigon-head: http://jediknight3.filefront.com/file/QuiGon_Jinn_Customization;94974

i'm sure that it's possible to combine these models - but i don't know how to do it... is anyone of you modellers up to help me in that case?

you'd have my eternal gratitude! :)

respect for your work, thanks & greetings from austria! elSpaan

first of all : Congrats ! you know how to request soemthing

incase you manage to get permission from both authors to mix their models I wouldnt mind doing so for you , but I odnt know how fast I can do this

so you got plenty of time to ask them for permission ;D

you'll have better luck getting a program like XSI mod tool and make a model on your own.

hey!

thanks a lot for your replies, the three of you! and for the compliment! well, i had suspected that there wouldn't be many modellers around anymore - so i was surprised to read your comments so soon.

and it was even a bigger surprise that THE AshuraDX offers to help me, and THE Hirman gives me advice! i don't want to suck up to you (hope that's the correct phrase), but i love your work, and your help honors me. :bows: (sorry ninjax21, please don't mind, but i didn't know you before)

@AshuraDX

well, so i know what i'll have to do. i'll immediately try to contact neomarz and jashugan. as i couldn't find them among the members here, i hope that their email-adresses (which they mention in the readmes) are still valid... or do you know their user-names? sure you do, no?

@Hirman

you meant me, no? i should get "a program like XSI mod tool" and do the model myself. hmmm. good idea - but i doubt that i would manage to do it... i tried, using the tutorials on the whole procedure (using various programs; Gmax, Milkshape, GTKRadiant...), but it resulted too complicated for me.

excuse my naive question: is the "XSI mod tool" easier to use? and would i need more than that program?

i would be very happy to spare Ashura working for me! :)

thanks for your help! spaan

i wouldn't think you would know me lol.

but yep you would need more then one program i believe. like 3ds.max xsi.mod tools and likely some plugins so you can import and export the models in the proper format making models is complicated business lol

Jose Carlos

Why? Cause normal is boring.

3ds Max (with a set of .xsi exporting plugins) and Mod Tool can take care of the entire modeling business on their own. Milkshape and Gmax won't work for player models, cause neither can export .xsi files.

Whether or not Mod Tool is easier to use than Max depends on the person. If you decide to give it a shot, use the help files and videos that come with the program to get started. Leave the tutorials for later.

Well I dont know wether they got an account here or not so you'll have to try to contact them via e-mail or you could try contacting them on Hapslashs Void
