A meditating Jedi in MD3? Why in MD3, if you can put a .glm model in a map? Well, I don't have much knowledge in mapping, but probably you can put a .glm in the map, and set the meditate animation to it...

To do this without using an .md3 (since I doubt you'll find one), you'd have to place an NPC (some jedi NPC, obviously) and in the entity window, check 'cinematic' and give it a spawnscript. Open up BehavEd and add a 'set' command using the SET_ANIM_BOTH special table with an appropriate anim like BOTH_SIT2. Then add another 'set' command but this time give it the int SET_ANIM_HOLDTIME_BOTH and give it the value -1. That should do it.

You could also give your NPC some other special script commands like IGNORE_PAIN, IGNORE_ENEMIES, and IGNORE_ALERTS.

Yeah, the only thing you do in the entity window is check cinematic (which you did correctly) and give it a spawnscript. So the entity window should look something like this:

And the rest in done in the map scripting program, BehavEd. It should have come with your SDK I believe. Look under GameData/Tools and it should be in there. Anyway use the first 'set' command, shown here:

Then just save your script with a name that matches your entity's spawnscript, which in my case was testscripts/jedispawntest. Then hit the 'compile' button and it should be ready.

I suppose it would also be a good idea to place a box of clip around your jedi so no one can mess with it. And give it a stone skin, something like this:
