Hello all,

I've gotten a bit frustrated with md3 files and milkshape.

What I'm wanting to do is take the head of a model and export it solely to an .md3 file, to be placed in a map. I successfully remove everything but the head, save it as a .md3, along with the textures. Yet, when it's loaded up in radiant, the textures do not show up. I am a total newbie with this stuff, and any information would be greatly appreciated, as it may prevent me from entering the loonie bin. Thanks in advance!

-Gabe

You may want to apply the textures via a .skin file with MD3View and re-export the MD3. That should fix your problem. MD3View should be packaged with ModView. Search for it at JKFiles (make sure to check read-me and description when searching).

:P Don't forget to "export as md3" over again after you've imported the skin to save your changes! :)

thanks for the fast replies!

i did as you said, opened the md3 up in md3view, the textures showed up fine then. i applied the .skin file anyways, and re-exported, and it still doesn't work. I'm actually sending the files over msn to a friend, as i can barely open up radiant, and he's the one making the map. could there be a problem there? i.e. do the filepaths have to match up?

Yes, the filepaths have to match the one in your base folder. That means, in the pk3 of the model, the filepaths must be the same. If you want better help, post the contents of the .SKIN file here :) Although another problem might be you didnt put in the skin images -.-

You should get him to register his own account ;). We always like to have new faces around here.

Yay. And might I ask, what head model is it? o.o why are you decapitating some poor soul and putting his head out for all to see?

Also, remember to put the caps and caps texture on so it'll look realistic :P

woot! it worked! i just redid it all strictly in my base folder, pk3'd it up, and sent it over, and it worked. thanks again for all the help!

oh, almost forgot. im in a roleplaying clan, ::JEDI:: (www.jediholo.net). the friend is axem keigoku, he's making a map for JEDI, and wanted some heads to put in the archives on pedestals of famous jedi (yoda, obi-wan, etc.).

thanks again for the help!
