I was wondering.......even though Milkshape is very low end, it has enough tools to make decent game s right?

And that's what it's for, game modding....

I was also wondering then, since it can export to wavefront ojbect and lightwave object, both of which Blender can read/import, I thought that I could import into Milkshape from Blender and vice versa, I could use any tools Blender has that Milkshape doesn't have I guess.....

My point being, those other softwares are geared for movie special effects type stuff...

If you just want to make a game , Milkshape is plenty, combined with the ability (assuming it has this) to I/O to Blender.

(Yep, I just tried it.....it can definitely import LWO object files...)

ms3d can only make hilts, the only game it has good support for is HL1 and Q2 & 3.

It can make more than hilts. It really just can't make vehicles or players. I'm sure it can handle hilts, guns, map objects, etc.

fudge :(

I suppose would it be possible to model something in blender, save it as LWO, then use milkshape to export it to JK 3DO?

What's a 3do anyway? I couldn't find anything on the forums...or I didn't know what to search for.

And does it then have to be converted to a pk3?

There are no 3DO's in Jedi Academy.

yeah 3do is for JK1 and you dont convert it to .pk3, pk3 is just a zip file with a different extention with the model, textures, scripts, shaders and effects inside of it.

I was thinking; Assimsoft made a bunch of plugins to be used with Milkshape; but the also released the source code to the plugins, so, anyone with coding experience could translate them into Blender plugins.

I just looked at the plugins and there doesn't seem to be a JK one ('cause it's from a trek group :D), but I don't think it would be too hard to make a plugin for Blender

You just need something to convert 3ds/LWO/Obj to a .pk3 or something, right?

Soo...

What about using Blender for moddling?

That's like saying "let's convert an mp3 to a zip!" PK3 is a compressed format. Read the read-mes before you make suggestions so you at least know the basics.
