I was chatting with ChoSeN OnE the other day, and I got these two great ideas. People may relate to the dueling mod idea (which would be like BWN), but the Quake sounds would just add fun. ;P The idea for the dueling mod revolves around keeping the damages untouched, much like JAE is right now; like basejka. I really enjoy that fact. I don't use JA+ because it changes the game. I want to play the game the way it is supposed to be played, so basejka or JAE is the way to go. Also, playing in Basejka or JAE boosts skill because the player focuses on aiming, agility and what-not, but that's another subject. The idea for the dueling mod revolves around the central idea of making money by winning. Say you're hosting dueling server X. Dueling server X will need a database to keep tabs on each player that comes on the server. This can be done by tracing IPs, or by saving the name of the player, but remains to the creator of the mod's discretion. As players play, they win a default amount of money generated thanks to their win. Losing a duel takes away your money and gives it to the person that is the victor over you. Spectators are given the opportunity to bet on the current duel by means of commands, such as /bet , or something like that. That way, not only can you make money by playing and winning, but you can also become a better, and in a sense become one of the richest people in the server. Coincidently, there is no ultimate point (for the time being) in being rich. I suppose you attain a position of prestige. The top 10 richest players could be shown with the /hiscore command, and you can add a /hitime command to show the list of players that have been in the server for the longest time. You can also add the Blademod-associated "Health points remaining" bind that is posted in chat after each duel. There are loads of ideas, and it you feel like taking the challenge, I would be glad to help you with ideas since my coding skill is below zero. ;P The dueling scene is red-hot right now. I think a mod like that would be pretty cool. Since BWN is dead, basejka dueling gets a bit borng. So yeah. ;P The other idea is basically to add the Quake sounds to JKA. Since JKA is based off of the Q3 engine....I assume it is possible. That is, unless sounds like those (location damaged and several kills) are hard-coded. But I honestly don't know, which is why I'm posting here. It's the basic Quake sounds. Slash (or shoot) someone in the head, if they die, ''Headshot!!!''. Double kills, triple kills. If you kill two people one after the other without dying, "Double kill!". There's also Monster Kill, Ultra Kill, and all the others. It would be fun for FFA'ing especially. But the sounds have to be good. That's a pretty rough draft of the ideas I have. I can talk more if you like. What do you think?
Hmm, seems like some pretty good concepts actually... But, I'm a wee bit skeptical on the second one; yes, it would be a good idea, just it seems a bit difficult(in my opinion) to trigger sounds with those specified requirements I wish you luck on this, BJ ^_^
Thanks. D: I have no coding or modding experience whatsoever (Except for mediocre sknning, and knowing how to build in Lugormod).. so I kind of need a programmer/coder to step up to the plate. I really don't know if it's even possible for the second option to happen, but I'm pretty sure the first is possible. Important thing to note is that it is capital that the gameplay remains like basejka. If it is even slightly altered, the beauty of the mod dissapears. And it would be nice to have them serverside... (by that I mean not clientside, meaning you don't need to download the mod to use it in the server). I dunno if that's possible for the second one though.
I've seen the money thing on a server already. I dont really know if the server is still online but it was the Modwooty server, in the Power Duel game mod.
The quake sounds is a good idea, just like in Return to Castle Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory.
I would be really interested in playing this mod tbh.
Have you ever played Lugormod?? A good bit of what you described is already in it. I don't know about the betting, but I know it has money, a bank, purchaseable items and several other things. It's also heavy on roleplay and dueling.
Yeah yeah. I was a beta tester for Lugor when he made the mod, I know most of it off by heart. But see, Lugor is intended to be an RP mod. The dueling in the mod is retarded because of all the shit that Lugor implemented (same thing with ModWooty). What I want for this mod is to be clean, smooth, and very much like basejka in terms f damage accuracy.
