if anyone is interested in predator models for JK3 i have an idea, milkshape3D has import support for .ABC files which is what AVP uses with the GLM exporter i have the models can be converted, i know its not as simple as its sounds but if anyone has had any experience and is interested please let me know; i can get the .abc's (hopefully).

well ive got a problem i cant install my AVP my disc is damaged. so now i cant help in anyway. so this is scrapped unless anyone else here has JK3 and AVP and is willing to do it.

Well Iron_Knuckle_mkII, I have both games and would be willing to learn to convert those skins to JA. However I don't have milkshape3D or anything simmilar to that save a paint program, an I'm sure that won't do the trick. Any suggestions (besides bying that expensive program)?

I have a question for you though (which I will also post in another thread). I beleave that "ST Voyager: Elite Force" uses much the same engine as JA does, and a predator skin has been made for that game. My question is this: Can that skin be used in JA, or would it have to be converted too? If so, how would one do this and would it be easy or hard to do? Hers the link to the skin:

actually it can be done within the 30 day evaluation period, which is free and i can get you the glm exporter, needed to convert the models, the real trick is weighting and the animations which i know nothing about, maybe some else can do that, and the answer to your question lies whithin the type of file it is and if milkshape supports them like the .abc fils.

Thanks dude. Unfortunatly I too know nothing about weighting the models and the animations. :( Be nice if someone could do it though......... :cool:

One of your primary problems is that those .abc files can only be edited and exported by SoftEdit, which is a considerably expensive modeling program. It can be done, though, seeing how there is a AvP model pack for UT2003.

but milkshape has abc file support. and with the glm exporter it should work.

Hey, I'm willing to take a look and see what I can do Iron_Knuckle_mkII. Firstly though, I'm gonna need a few things.

1) A download location for the 30 day free milkshape program. 2) The download location of the glm exporter your talking about. 3) Tutorials would be nice as I've never used milkshape or the glm exporter. 4) Time. I'll have to load up the game (AvP) and research the game's files structure, as I've never modded the game before (only played it), I have no idea where anything is or what I'm even looking for.

So I am willing, but as you can see it will take a little work. However, I might have a simpler suggestion. Take a look at this predator file for "elite force":

What do you think? Like the skin? I'm fairlly sure that elite force & JA use the same game engine (quake 3), so it might be easyer to convert this skin/model to JA than convert one from AvP (which uses a different game code) to JA. Just a thought.......
