I don't spend enough time here

I have been away from mapping for a couple of years (learning 3ds max and photoshop), and i wanted ti get back into some levels i started for JA, i seem to remember most of the tricks but one thing has eluded me, i have some models i want to use in the levels and they show up black in game, - now hold on i know i can use model statics instead, but they only show up as i small red box in the editor, and as i want to be quite specific where i place the models the red box leaves me guessing at best, are there any tips on how to get the model static's mesh to show up in the editor?
I am using GTK 1.4 with the latest q3map version.

Alright, this is how it works. You make a misc_model, place it and rotate it and everything, then you hit n and change the name from misc_model to misc_model_static. There will be no change right away untill you reload the map. Misc_model_statics have the advantage of not being plagued by the mysterious black faces error, so this is important to do if you have quite a few models.
