Ok... so here is the deal..

i want to make a wookie with jedi robes. I want to make it as easy as possible so this is what i want to do. Can i take a wookie model head and hands and replace it with the head and hands of a jedi model of my choosing? we'll say HS Obi-wan for example... but with wookie head and hands.. :P

how would i got about doing this? is there a tutorial i can follow to complete this task?

take both the models and pull them into a modeling program, take the parts you need then rig the model to the skeleton, export and compile

thank you for replying! that maybe just enough information for me to figure it out on my own :)... what is a good modeling program.. i see the name gmax passed around a lot.. could that program do what you said? pull apart the models and then "rig" the parts i want to a skeleton and export then compile?

Why? Cause normal is boring.

XSI Mod Tool. Gmax is okay, but it can't export .xsi files.

True, Jose, but it can export 3DS. Then you could import that into XSI, and export as .xsi, and then compile in Carcass. I think I have the process right...

yeah but after trying out mod tools 6 it just flat out has so many more modeling tools than gmax does and it has overall better performance by a long shot, it takes a mil poly model to even start to slow XSI down.

HEY, yeah thanks this'll help my problem I was tryin to make a Luke in Jedi robes from where he appears to Cade in the form of a force ghost.

I'll give that a shot... I can ALMOST achieve it.

I believe if I play with it enough... I too will eventially get it.

yep, its not too hard. just some welding and maybe some slight triangulation is all it takes to attach the parts of one model to another.

And we've just taught people to not do any of their own work... -_-

I hope you guys are doing the polite thing and asking these folks for permission before you decapitate their models.
