Hello there to everyone ^^ Well, I'm new on the skinning/modding/whatever world an I've decided to try out my first reskin ( you guys hate that don't you xD ) well, it's not reeeeeeally a first skin, more like my first reskin intented to be released (have had a little fun on my own).

So basically: I'd like to know what's the most "JK3 related models aplication that show shaders" out there, I did find these shaders tutorials, but they work for Q3 (doesn't look like a nightmare, but having to translate Q3 english => Jk3 english => jk3 portuguese all in my head isn't so easy), besides there seens to be a few diferences on how shaders work jk3 to q3. I say these becouse: what I've learned so far from shaders: make a big black jpeg file of same size that the one it's supposed to be aplyed, and place the glows over the places u want them to, them write:

models/players// { map models/players// blendfunc add glow rgbGen identityLighting }

and in the Q3 tutorials it said a lot of things about channels and alpha channels for this same effect.

but that works for glow only, the control lines for reflect didn't work the same way on my reskin. all taken from "Kurtis 'KMan' Smith"s Samus Aran model (great great really damn great inspiring model) and also the reflect lines that I found in every *.shader (looked over several models) were diferent (almost like writen by a application instead of a person). (all of these couse I'd like to give some metal shader to the back of his head (can be whole head, it's supposed to shinne like a silver dragon would)

My other question is: can I change a models torso without using programs like 3d studio or Xsi, I don't have ways of getting them at the moment (I'd like to change Desann's torso and arms couse he has a really unic shape that makes it hard to change the idead even with good reskinning, (I'd like to make him look more like an Jedi (usual Jedi-like clothes). (can't just change them off couse it keep big holes on the model) if Yes (can change torso), how do I do that?

Final question: what's the console command that locks the cammera? so I can take good inside game pics from model?

current progress: (it's really no big deal, doesn't look like this at all inside the game (specially couse u'r looking at him from behind =P ), got glowing eyes there but still thinking of removing it (it's cool but has no real meaning/sense), also the tunic and whole clothes is pretty much the same (gonna wait to know if the torso's model can be changed before keep changing textures). (if I ever gate to make all changes I want it'll be named Bahamut (my ultimate Hero =D ))

Definitely change the clothing (and no, you can't change the model without completely rerigging and recompiling it).

I like it. But yeah, it could do with different clothing, Desann's original outfit doesn't suit the new flesh textures. (PS: Could you please send me a copy of it as it is now? He looks badass and I wanna add him to my NPC collection :lol: .)


I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

The jaw looks really funny with those teeth from the frontal view.

The plates look more metallic than organic on the neck, and the jaw's hue totally doesn't match the rest. All in all, it isn't a recolor, and is pretty nice.

Thanks for these comments so far ^^ anything will add to it about the metal like plates, if u make a really quick google image search (just enter google, put images and write Bahamut) you will see a real big variety of "shapes" from the same "dragon" (sorta ^^ ), like several versions (actually, each one from a FF game, except FF7 that has 3 Bahamuts), some of them look like mixes from a dragon with mech-symbiotic like plates-scales. I'm an Final Fantasy Fanatic, plus Dragon Fanatic, and Mech Fanatic (so bahamut is to me like the ultimate cool creature ^^ ). Yet he/it won't be called Bahamut, just not been able to change other model parts is enough (maybe on a much later version...) Kouen I'd just like to add a little bit more detalis before releasing it (only changed head/neck/hands so far...)

the boots are awesome, save for the front of it being a total contrast ;). The metal doesn't line up on the loincloth of his torso; may wanna double check that. All in all, nice work! the color should definitely be altered on the armor, however.

thanks for the tips Deviant ^^ I thought maybe adding a few more things to the torso could make the armor more acceptable... not sure... I'm worried that I might have added too much and it won't look more than some junk texture over a flet surface >.< (actually it does look like it if you play the game with low/medium texture quality) (grrr y does his torso has to be so weird... I mean,there isn't a pattern... )
