hello, i just made my first saber model thats based on this one http://www.thelightsaber.com/Histories/historyM.htm#ToMicahGiiett here is a screenshot of the model i just want to get some tips how to make it look better and what you think of it.
I like it, simple but nice.
I'd say your blade tag needs to be moved towards the hilt more. I usually put mine slightly inside the hilt. Right now your blade is kinda floating above the hilt. I just noticed that the texturing on the bottom doesnt match up with the rest. This is gonna sound weird but, the dark lines dont match up. But that doesnt really matter because many will argue that you wont see it ingame anyway, and they're right.
Have you looked into shaders? A little bit of a chrome shine can go a long way ;). Other than that it looks very nice, especially for a first model.
i already had a shader on but i removed it and added a new one. new screenshot (with new shader)
I kinda like the old one better.. It was more shiny.. and Semedar likes shiny stuff.. can you make it shiny..? ^^ lol
Ok I see the shader now. Sorry about that. I thought it was just texturing. And I also thought the bottom was just round, but now I see the grooves in it. I must be blind today... Dont forget about that blade tag. That will be noticeable in game(the floating blade). I personally like the second one better, but remember, its about what YOU like. The shader I usually use is gfx\effects\chrome I love the chrome! But once again, thats personal preference. You did a great job on the model. Way better than my first!
i'll try to make a mix between the first and second shader :) that would look better i think. and thanks for the tips
the shader is looking good now i think and the blade is on the right spot so im ganna make a readme and send it to jk2files :) here's a screenshot:
Looks great. When you submit it, you should think about sendind an ingame shot also, just to let people see what they're getting ingame.
I'd say leave the blade where it is. I like the floating blade look.
