hope u all had a happy new year all hope u had nice christmas. i took skining ages ago and my skins was the crapist evan with photoshop. but i dont know how to put sounds into skins/models can someonehelp please:confused:
Best thing to do would be to take one of the existing skins/models, open it's .pk3 file and look how it's done there.
First, create an appropriate folder structure. Let's say your character is called farruski (ain't I original? =p). Folder structure should be sound/chars/farruski/misc. That means all sounds you wish to add go to misc folder.
You also need to create sounds.cfg file inside the models/players/farruski folder. You can do that with some text editor, like Notepad or WordPad. So, assuming your character is male, open a blank document and write this:
Save it and manually change it's extension from .txt to .cfg. Don't forget to place it inside the models/players/farruski folder, ofcourse.
Now for the sounds themselves. They can be either .wav or .mp3 format. Also, they must be at mono format (channels) and their audio sample rate must be 44 Khz. You can use Audacity or some other audio converter to adjust your sounds if needed.
Pay attention to their names. You can't name them any way you want. Best way to see what names you must use is to look inside the assets0.pk3 file or some other custom model that has sounds.
yeah i know that but what i mean is how do i actualy put sounds from files i've goten into the skin file just make the folders like normal then drag/extract/copy n paste it into the folder? if there is a way to make an actual sound of a voice for example mine lol do i just record it and do it normal way with other sound files?
I'm not sure what exactly do you mean. Sounds from files? :Puzzled: Do you mean taking sound files and using only parts of them? If that's what you mean, you can use Audacity again to cut the parts you want.
As for using your voice; yeah, you'd have to record it and convert to proper format and rate. If the sounds you're trying to use don't work in game, open the console and look for error reports to see what exactly is wrong.
ya taking soundfiles and using parts of some
That's easy. Cut the part(s) of the sound file(s) you wish to use, save it / them as new file(s), convert if necessary, give proper name(s), put where they belong and voilà; you're good to go.
lol am so thick in the head *sighs in shame and guilt* how do i cut them?
Use the Force, farruski.
It's simple. If you're using Audacity, open the file you wish to cut. Now, select the part you wish to cut out with your mouse. Simply click at the beginning of the part you wish keep, hold the mouse button pressed, drag it to the point where your desired part ends and release the mouse button. Go to File and choose Export Selection as WAV (or MP3; it's your choice) and save it. Simple.
