I recently reskinned the speeder bike model by Monsoontide for personal use, but I wanted it to be a separate skin, and not replace the original. So I searched, and found a thread in which Inyri Forge explained how to do that (granted, it was for a player skin not a vehicle). Now, the original vehicle spawns just fine, but the reskinned one won't spawn at all (it says "Could not find [vehicle name]"). I'm not sure what needs to be edited for the skin to work properly, and I don't wanna mess around with anything that might screw the whole thing up. So my question is: how do I fix it so that the reskinned vehicle won't replace the original and still have it spawn properly? EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I go to edit the model_default.skin file (replacing the original name with the new one) it won't stay that way. What I mean is, when I open up the skin file again, it's back to the way it was. Is this anything I should worry about? Sorry for the idiot questions, it's just that I'm new to all this, so bear with me.

You'll need to make a vehicle file (.VEH) for it, I believe. Look in assets1, in ext_data. There's a folder full of the vehicles. I've never done it before, but I imagine you could just edit swoop_mp and change what needed to be changed.

Would .veh and .npc files be editable using NotePad? EDIT: Nevermind, they are.

Thanks for your help so far, but now I've come to a new problem. It seems that whenever I edit these files (I'm using PakScape by the way), they revert to normal when I select them again. I replace every instance of the original name with the new name and save, but then they're back to the originals when I re-open them. Is this a problem or a natural occurance?

They may be set to read-only. Make sure you uncheck this in the properties so you can save them.

That's actually what I ended up having to do, and it did the trick. The vehicle is now spawning like it should. Thanks Inyri and Haruki for your help! smilie.gif

On the note of vechicles.... I've downloaded quite a few vechicles...and now whenever I try to create my own server or a solo game, it won't allow me to do so, saying... "Vechicle extensions are too large" Any suggestions?
