I got questions :P I decided I was going to make a mod where you fight all the famous battles from Episode 3, Using footage from the films mixed with gameplay... Jus for a personal project.. Ive got a few questions about it: 1. How do I make it so certain clips play at certain points during gameplay? eg. At the beginning of the level it plays a certain clip then when the enemys health is at a certain point it plays another and then another clip when you defeat the enemy. And is it possible to like position the characters in a certain place after each clip? I mean like if your fighting on a lower level then the clip shows you going to an upper level you can make it so you start on the higher level after the clips been shown? 2. What Tools are needed for this? Would I need to create a new map or edit an existing map? 3. How make it play certain music during these battles? My first battle im recreating (or trying to) is the Obi-Wan, Anakin, Dooku fight on Grevious' Ship from episode 3. So hopefully you will all be playing it soon. Thanks in Advance.:)

1- scripting, do some research, it's a project in itself to tell you how to do it. Everything you said is possible to do, it would take me too long to do it myself for you or write a mini tutorial for you as I am currently working on a different project. (look at the tutorials sticky, there are some links to some good tutorials there)

2- the jedi academy SKD (you can get it at jk3files.com), GTK radient, Photoshop, notepad.

3- this is easy, it's just music on a map.

Well first of all you'll need a map of grevious's ship. (There is one by Sith-J-Cull.) You'd also need the playermodel(s), etc. Then you'd have to edit the map so that triggers are set up. Example: When you walk through the door into the command area you will "trip" a invisible trigger brush which will point to a target script runner, the target script runner will then run a script which runs a cutscene (video). You can do this when all the enemies die so it plays a video but Idk how...so I can't help you there. And to play music during it you can have music play from the worldspawn, type it into the console to make it play, play music on your computer seperatly (Not Recommended.), or have it so the trigger also plays music. That's all I know so if you need further help I won't be able to give it to you. Unless it's about the above.

Ok, So to do the Scripting you use GTKRadient to edit the mapfile.. Is there any tuts on how to actually work the triggers? Or any tuts that are useful to me.. I checked the tutorial list and couldnt find anything relevent.

make your own map. It will be FAR less trouble.

use BehavED to script use GTKradient 1.4 to map

umm... have you done any modding before? of any kind? just so I have a reference point from which to work from.

yea ive worked on the HL2 engine, using Hammer. I was going to use a pre-built map then edit it (add new textures etc). Is it possible to do that and add the triggers? Problem is... I dont know how the triggers work for this game. At the moment, I just need to find out how to play a .roq file which ive made when you enter the room. Then another clip when his health reaches halfway and another just before he dies. And that will do for now.

O, and I need to convert it from a MP map to a SP map and add NPC's... Not sure how to do that either. lol

If you are going to use someone elses map, you will need thier permission to decompile and edit it, and chaces are you will probably not get it so you may be forced to make the map from scratch.

Triggers are not to complex a task, however you would probably be better suited following the tutorials to learn how to do these things. The basic tutorials which almost every mapper for JA have read would be these: http://www.darthg.com/richdiesal/tutorials/index.html They will give you the skinny on building maps and working with different entities.

.roq movies ingame would probably require some icarus scripting (using behaved). Again, in the tutorials section.

Converting a map to sp is simple once it is decompiled, just make sure you are working in gtkradiant with the single player settings checked, then load the map. Again, after you have been granted permission to use it, of course. Peace!
