Yeah, I thought about that. I was thinking of just limiting it to one handed styles but that'd be pretty sad. I think I'll just put it ingame and see what happens with it, it might work out okay with two hands, and if it doesn't I'll just have to work from there. I'm still loving the thumb print idea, but it just won't work with how I've got this thing skinned, I'm playing around with some diffrent ideas now, the texture pulls slightly on the edge where I wanted it to be.. maybe I'll just have to have an oblong button.
There we go, it's got an activation button, grippy parts, and it's definately sleek looking. I don't know how much more I'm actually going to do with it, it's looking pretty good at this stage and I don't want to ruin it. But just because I like the shape so much I'll probably do another skin that's entirely diffrent, a less clean cut looking one. Oh, and I've come up with a name "Thorn" I know, self tribute, great isn't it?

Doesn't look too bad at all. Post up a screen with wireframes (F4, if you're using gmax or 3ds max).
Looking very impressive so far m8! Unusual shape for a hilt, but i like it, it reminds me of something a Sith might use, with the spiky end. Keep up the good work! Noz
Well, Thorn would work, but if you are looking for another name, personally I think it looks like a wasp with a kiler stinger, so I would name it "Wasp."
Lol you call that thing a shell too? Thats what I always call them. Btw the limit on vertices is 1000 not 2000. Just thought I'd let you know so you dont get close to 2k then not be able to get it ingame.
Resized it, I like it alot better not being the size of an actual wasp. When I'm using it as duals the positioning goes all wonky, so I need to fix that. I'm also a bit dissapointed that alot of the smaller details that really set it off for me don't show up in JKA. Oh well, I'll atleast know they're there..

Before anyone asks, remember that old show that came on saturdays a long time ago, ReBoot? That's Matrix from that show with the saber, I've been planning on releasing it but I always meant to clean it up a bit more before I did. Anyway, I'm going to have to rescale it for ingame use, it just looks patheticly small ingame right now. I mean it'd work.. but no one wants a lightsaber that's the size of a remote control right? Also might make it a touch thicker.
Edit: I can also work on lowering the poly count of the emitter a little, but it's really not all that needed, I'm well below the 2k mark.
Edit Edit: As usual I can't leave well enough alone, I'm also going to add a specular shader for the lighter 'shell' of the thing. Also move the tags for the blade around a bit.
Bam, update time. I made another skin for the model. A sith version! Here's both of them in game together. I'm going to reskin this model to death, I know.
I like them both. The sith one kinda looks like it should replace the Stinger. You know? That dumb default, square thing that all the Reborns get? I've been meaning to make a replacement for that....
