I've owned this game for a few years and only really played single player never really got into the whole multi player aspect of the game, i recently re-installed in an now started messing with modding. But I've gotten stuck in the tutorial I'm doing it tells me this:

Now you need to go in extract ui/newgame.menu from assets1.pk3 to your project folder and open it up in Wordpad. Go down and find the following linet: uiScript startgame Delete it and replace it with this line: exec "exec gamestart.cfg"

My question regarding this is what program do I use to extract the newgame.menu, If someone could send me a link on how do this or walk me through it that would be great

Now create a new .pk3 file with this modified file in under the "ui" folder. Make sure this .pk3 file is saved under your mod directory.

And for this one, how do I create a pk3 file, is there a program to create it, or do i just create a blank file, such as change the extent on a new text document to .pk3?

This is the link to the Tutorial The Massassi Temple: Single-Player JO Maps, Part 1 : General Stuff

I'm really sorry if these are stupid questions please be patient with me...

Pakscape opens .PK3 files. Find it on JK3files.com.

It's not a stupid question, lots of people make the mistake.

Welcome to the forums!

Heh...this is one of the few new modders that actually approach the FileFront Forums with an understandable grasp of the English language. Too frequently do I see incomprehensible jibberish spewed by some newbie to the game that I begin to think they are all just curious 7-year-olds...Anyway, welcome to the modding world, Forsey!
