I have changed the shot.efx and alt_shot.efx of the E-11 into a water effect, so now I have a water gun. I also changed the sound - I used wtrin.wav (from assets0/sound/effects), converted it into .mp3 and changed the name to fire. While the effects work, I am not getting any sounds, even when I make a new pk3 like ZZZZZZZZZZ_blastersound.pk3 and put the sounds there. Anyone with a similar experience?

Did you save the sounds with the correct sample rate? Sound files must be mono, sampled at 41,000 hz.

Shouldn't it be 44,000 Hz (44 kHz)? In any case, looking into the console for any error reports is the right thing to do.

It should be 44100 Hz. ;)

But in any case, yes, check the console. It's the best place to find out what's wrong with your sound files because it's one of the only times it tells you exactly what the problem is so you can fix it.

I had used the Free mp3 Wma convertor to change wtr_in.wav into wtr_in.mp3, but I didn't have mono and my bitrate was too high. It works now, thanks for the help everyone. If I am allowed to go off-topic: I changed the flechette bullets into rockets, but now they don't leave marks on walls and floors, for some reason. There's still blood.
