I've retextured the Buster Sword from this mod: Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children Mod, Jedi Knight 3 Downloads, Jedi Knight 3 Packs and I have sent the author an email to request permission, as I did for my previous Buster Sword mod. However, I have yet to hear back from him, and it's been several weeks. Does anyone know what the procedure here is? I mean, I did get permission previously, but don't I need it again for a slightly different mod? Modders, any thoughts?

You really should ask permission for each individual file.

Make sure you put in the subject box something that won't make the author think is junk mail. Also, I requested permission for something a few months back, and I didn't get a reply for about 2 months.

So should I just resend the email?

I guess that will have to be your decision. You said that the author gave you permission before, judge by how long it took for that to get answered, but I really don't know, just don't annoy the author.

How about making your own texture? Or maybe you can just show it to me so I know how hard it would be? Or is it 20 textures? And about contacting those veteran retired mappers, I'd say it's virtually impossible.

So, here is a link that may help, if you have some knowledge of photoshop:

[CG Textures] - The worlds largest free texture site

Spiral Graphics is another really good site (They made Genetica). Google them up and have a look at their stuff while you're at it. :)

I saw somewhere on JK3Files that if you honestly try to contact the author, but don't get a response, it's still okay to release the file. Contacting the modder on Monday and releasing the mod on Tuesday because you didn't get a response is a nono, but I think if you can prove you tried, it's okay. DO! NOT! QUOTE! ME! ON! THIS!
