This is for a sp mod by the way. I dont think its a problem with the pk3 file but it might be!? When i click the .bat file to start the mod it loads fine, click new, choose difficulty (it forces you to be kyle in this case). The game should then begin and load the map 'test' but it just goes into the normal sp game with the ship cutscene, and rosh:aug:. You play as kyle (with jadens voice) but its not the right level obviously. pk3 file: levelshot: test.jpg maps: test.bsp file models/players/kyle: all the right files ui: newgame.menu newgame_first.menu what have i done wrong?

Most likely a UI problem.

No one has the SP source code, you don't need it to determine what map is loaded first in a new game.

Yes, there is. Or it could be one of the .MENU files.

It's not particularly hard to find, just root around and it'll appear easily.


I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

ive been looking for ages and i cant find it - i know the first level is called yavin1. doing a search request doesnt find anything either. never the less my sp mod is going quite well, almost done the first level, im just trying to plan in advance for when i do finish. I know this is a little insane but ive posted the newhame.ui and newgame_first.ui file, ive looked in others but dont think its there. can anyone see it in either of these

Are those two files you posted even your edited files, or the original Raven files? They both have "open characterMenu" Normally in place, and neither does nothing to start a custom map.

You need to edit the files so that they either directly launch the custom map, or exec a gamestart.cfg that launches the map, when you press the begin button (at the end of the files). Or if you need the character meny for your mod, then you need to edit the character menu ui file(s), and these newgame files have no relevance.

Have a look at the files of some released (and complete) sp level to see how it's done, or you can even scan through my forced SP playermodel tutorial for the same info, if you want.

lol i was wondering when u were going to post :D u were so much help when i was on here about a year ago. cant wait for Punks btw. no their not my editted ones, i chose to post them because ive editted things in mine (with your forced single player tutorial) and it might have confused people. Ill check out the sp mod where you have to play as tavions sister or something and ill post if (rather 'when') i have problems understanding the ui files.

If your menu files don't (yet) have any other modifications compared to the original, like new backgtround and such, I suppose it might also be possible for the batch file to the erroneous so that the game would still launch, but the mod not activate, and you just didn't notice it. Now, I don't know if that's possible in practice, but I suppose there's a theoretical possibility.

Ive made a little improvement over the last few hours, ive got the menu background to change, does that prove the the mod has loaded sucessfully? When i click next on the difficulty menu (next should be begin game as well...),it goes back to the 1st screen in the menu (with the movie is the middle) when it should go straight into the first level. in the console it says 'couldn't exec gamestart.cfg. How could this be resolved?
