I'm kinda annoyed with the filefront staff for accepting even the most useless files, wasting dozens of GB of expensive storage space that has to be paid for. Of course noobs should get a chance to improve, but if they don't make an effort and don't want to learn... I would like to hear people's opinions on this - please be honest.

It's nine freakin' megabytes. Do you know how many terabytes of worthless crap is on FileFront proper? We're not running off an IBM Blade in Mr Jongejan's basement any more, so it's all cool.

I suppose you'd prefer it if the staff only validated files they actually liked. Not going to speak for any of the rookies - right now I'm in no mood to be polite to them for reasons that do not need to be discussed publicly - but that never has been and never will be my policy.

We are, after all, a public service.

I see your point, I really do. All too often I get extremely tempted to pick up those chav retards blasting the most awful music imaginable from their mobiles, and throw them off the f***ing bus (preferably through the windshield on the top deck), but that ain't my call to make either. :clueless:

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

..How the bloody hell does that skin even make it to 9mb? 8192x8192 TGA's or whut?! That is seriously overkill, and I don't like the amount of garbage on JK3files - One of the reasons I stopped even going to there.

If people wish to improve their modding skills, use the forums for WIP/suggestions/feedback Srsface.

I was thinking of an objective set of criteria. Just as Bach is objectively better than the crap you mentioned people listen on their mobiles, Mars Marshall's skins are objectively better than most other skins. It doesn't have to be like 'oh, I don't like single player maps, so let's not accept this file' but more like 'This is a BSP -meta compiled grey-and-white-of-death map, let's not accept this file' (and tell the author why, so he can actually do better next time).

Yeah, but then you have another problem. What's objective and what's not objective, is entirely subjective.

Quality is a opinion, what one person might find quality work, another might not.

Like modern art. To me, it sucks balls and big floppy donky dick. But to a whole lot more than myself, it's uh... I guess, revolutionary for lack of better word.

Yet another classless attempt at trying to filter files again? Delightful ¬_¬

To put it simply, JKFiles cannot AFFORD to put their clients through a "personal taste filter." Why? So many people violate protocol each day that if we did, all that would inevitably come through is an indeterminate mess of files, be it good or bad. I heard the news. Dretzel told me the backlog is disgusting at the moment not too long ago, and a bunch of those are from people who didn't bother to clearly read the rules and cover their bases.

Now granted, at this point in time, I highly doubt LucasArts or any other company is going to sue some kid's balls to the wall simply because he wanted to play as Master Chief or some KOTOR turd just because he didn't want to wait for someone to make a model, but the fact remains: If you want your crap to go through, you just gotta bite the bullet and play ball. No ports, format your readme so it looks like it wasn't done by a fucking primate(don't be an ass about it either ¬_¬ *glares at the "Almighty_Who?" lurking at the thread users bar*) and cover any creditable bases you ran over, and you'll be fine.

What's that got to do with the quality standard, you ask? Simple: What I listed here WAS ALREADY a quality standard. They expect you to have a fair, well-documented, and non-virus caked functional file. As Kouen said, we're not running this off some shitty Dell desktop, so if you want to complain about quality, bitch about it on your own time, don't try to impose yet another standard on this network. Were it up to me, I'd unplug the whole god damn network and keep it away from you ungrateful fucks.

Well put. I totally agree.

Filefront is above each individuals' concept of quality, people need to see beyond personal oppinions to understand that...

"We are, after all, a public service." as Mikouen said

The only submition policy it has is: not to accept ported/illegal content, and for the sake of modding it should stay that way.
