I found it in a forum:

Don't know about sabers, but for vehicle models it's max 1000 vertices for each part.

Maybe the saber limit is about 1000...but I don't know... And you can give name to your saber, with a *.sab file. If you can't make one, I saw a few topic on the filefront, what are speaking from the same. the list of the commands is here: Sab file commands

for any JA model you should try to keep a saber under 500 vertices, it can go up to 1000 but if you go over 500 the engine wont render shadows for it, besides you dont need that much for ANY weapon. tags are just a right triangle, just look at some of the base models for refrence on which direction to face them and where to place them.

big thanx to u all, but (noob here) i am still a bit confused about tags, all i know is placing a base saber beneath my own model, i have no idea how the tags work and that limits me.

As minilogoguy18 said you just need to make a right triangle. You can do this with planes, splines, etc. You just have to make a triangle and name it appropriately.
