Hey, I love the npc tool, but I notice it does give you the freedom to create a completly custom npc. Is there like a pro version, or a better one anybody knows of? If so where can I get it?
No theres only the open beta of npc tool and 1.0.
is there any other good npc editors then?
Notepad, but the NPCTool has the same possibilities.
Hey Darth Dwarf, GothiX is correct. The NPC tool (either one) CAN in fact make a totally new NPC character which uses any model skin you have in your base folder. You see, the when you hit new NPC or load a NPC, there name appears at the left in a colum. That is the name which the game looks for when spawing any NPC in the game.
So making a new NPC is as simple as creating a new name (Like if you wanted to make a qui-gon NPC, you would make the name "quigon" and then set up the settings acordingly, like appearance, weapons, etc). Then put the new .npc into a new .pk3 (with the right directory stucture of course), and in the game console type (or bind a key) npc spawn (without the <>). All set, new NPC sabering everyone............
Just make sure you don't make too many of them as you'll get an error saying that you have too many .NPC's (I beleave I added 4-5 before I got the error). If you want more new NPC's in the game than 4-5(?) you'll have to replace someone's .NPC file by changing there playermodel to the one you want. This is a great way for you to create total conversions............

Well, that isn't the tools' fault. That stuff is in the source code, that Raven won't release.
You can script that easily.
Oh, and moberemk, stop blaming Raven, they're not allowed to release that source.
