Alright, I took an existing playermodel and I copied everything into a models/players/ directory on my desktop. I edited the skin and everything and put all the files into a PK3. I put it in my base folder and then I went into multiplayer to check out my skin. I look through the profile but the custom icon I made isn't there. So I open the console and type in /model commando (the name of my skin) and then the areas of the skin I edited are invisible! I try again and then when I try the game crashes. Can anyone help? And if not can someone just make me a skin/model of a squad mate from the upcoming Lucasarts game Republic Commando?:( Thanks!:talker:

Your filepaths in the model_default.skin are wrong. Your icon name MUST be icon_default.jpg or it wont work. Also make sure every image you edited is a .jpg.

in model_default.skin you should have at the end of all the lines (but the ones with caps in them):

Commando/commando_torso.tga

for example. However your folder name must be Commando and your torso.jpg name must be commando_torso. Etc. Hope it helps.

Okay, is there any way to kind of simplify that so I can understand that? I'm new to skinning and you know what you're talking about, so don't take that offensively. Anyway, I tried to edit the Galak Fyarr skin's torso. I saved it in the winzip thing and then deleted the old torso. When I went into the game to see what it was like the torso was invisible. What am I doing wrong?
