Up on the toolbar at the top, click on BSP, and choose one. You may need to do more than one, i do Meta, then light, then a vis one.

Yeah. Make sure you learn about what a switch is.

And be aware of external compilation programs. You may not need them now, but you will want something like q3map2GUI eventually.
