Hi there, first post. :cya:

Quite frankly, I hate the single player third person view as opposed to that in multiplayer. It feels really... marshmallowy and jerky. The multiplayer third person mode is very sharp and easy to follow. Specifically, I'm referring to how the camera in SP waits for your character to move a ways before moving with him, giving it a lurching feel. Is there any way to replicate the multiplayer feel?

For the record, cg_ThirdPersonCameraDamp 0.6 and cg_ThirdPersonTargetDamp 1 helps a little, but that lurching feeling is still there.

Maybe there's a mod to help with this? I've searched but found nothing.

No one has any ideas then? I've tried all the other ThirdPerson cg settings to no avail.

Part of the reason I'm interested in this is I'm thinking of making a singleplayer map, but this issue bothers me enough, that I'm wondering if I should focus on making it for the mp application instead. It would essentially be the same thing, but with less scripting.

Then do it for the MP. The story is the focus in SP, so if you could do it as well for the MP engine, it wouldn't even be a real SP map.

And if a thing like this (which I personally think is just the other way around), is enough to bother you so much, you would never finish your map, anyway. Mapping is filled with much bigger and much more frustrating problems than something trivial like that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. ;)

Seriously though, this is certainly a personal thing. I don't expect anyone else to be bugged by this as much as me. It's just too bad that there isn't an easy solution (one that's known anyways).

As for patience and such, that's really an entirely separate issue. I've had a little experience in other mediums, and I've dealt with far more annoying things than this before. Like I said, it's mostly a personal preference thing.

Thanks for the reply.
