weird I'm prety sure I used to see plenty of "black objects" errors like this on google and in a few faqs years ago, now I just can't find them (there's allways the possibility I have gonne totally nuts)... if I recall anything about it... the objects are either not been directly lit by a light, or there are too many lights doing that on top of it (a limit perhaps). On a semi-related note, I find the light values given on most tutorials rather weak...

There are a lot of models, that are black by themselves. You can fix that with shader (I don't remember what should you change but it may helps you google it somehow :P)

Isn't the solution something to do with the various 'types' of map object e.g. misc_model, misc_model_static etc. If you're using misc_model, try it with misc_model_static or vice versa and see if that helps.

(In the meantime, someone who actually knows the difference between 'em and knows fully how to solve the issue can post something a bit more helpful and informative)

Johnny's right, use a misc_model_static instead of a regular misc_model. That'll fix it.

misc_model is generated when you save your map to bsp...and misc_model_static is generated when you load the map :D So if you use static, you can decrease the size of your bsp with about its half :P
