If me (or someone else) were to start making racetrack-themed maps on settings such as Coruscant, Tatooine, Naboo, etc... how many of you would be interested? It would probably use the JKR mod as far as vehicle spawning and the such, but mapping would be entirely original, and with some RPG elements (cantina, area around track).

Good idea. Speeders and pods, they could have. But, what is awesome, is mounted duel. Jedi vs. Jedi. A thing that the Trip map lacked. If it had Reborns it would be the greatest map ever.

Also, you have the Boonta Eve map. I don't know any other race maps.

^Stuff that's based on the swoop npc class aren't that bad, neither are walkers. It's the flying types that fail miserably.

Ah, in Lugormod there are many ships. I am not a very good driver. But overall it's good. But BIG ships are terrible, I'd go with a TIE bomber or a Tie Fighter. I play in a Lugormod that has the Trip map, and it's awesome.

Heh. This sounds pretty fun. See, I'm a bit of a race nut myself.

Racing in Star Wars has always fascinated me. So, yes. It'd be neato.

DOO EET! If its going to be a server+client side mod (which it probably will), try to include some custom code that allows some more vehicle control.

Swoop racing's not bad at all. Sure you have the occasional spasm where your hoverness fails out and you drag across the ground only to bounce back into the air a second later, but that's not much of a problem if you don't hit the wall too much and the ground is flat. Even if the environment doesn't call for purely flat ground, invisible walls are used in racing games and are unnoticable when moving fast.

But it would be swoop racing, not podracers, because I can't think of any map that could be made big and long (giggity) enough to fit podracers. And it would be pointless having to modify an existing mod just to put in some other kind of vehicle, swoops are cool enough.

I really just wanna see your opinions, I would hate to spend time making a completely functional and unique racing map just to have maybe 1 server play it occasionally.

2nd thought: It would most likely utilize the JKR mod in terms of swoop spawning, and.... a little func thing inside the map for a nifty 3-2-1 timer. Not like a total conversion here, folks. 3rd thought: I know basically nothing of the process of creating conversion mods and the such. But if the idea becomes popular enough and someone who does wants to join on, then hell maybe there could be some sort of JA: Racing like some kind of something.
