i am currently working on a map, and imtrying to get fog to work in it, but i keep getting this "Backward tree volume " error when i try and compile the map to test it..does anyone know what this is?
If you have a detail brush in the void it will cause this error.
ummmm i checked the map theres nothing floating around in the void randomly.
It doesn't have to be randomly in the void, but if there is a detail brush with any of its sides touching the void you can get this error.
just to be quite sure, make everything structural, and then go through and make what you want detail, detail. If youre using a skybox, just make the box structural, just to be sure. If you get it after that, I guess you have a gap in the box, or theres a detail ghost brush in the void. Ghost brushes are ones so small that radiant cannot display them properly, and thus, cant be seen. In the new 1.5, make a brush that encompasses the whole map, then hit "select inside" and save selected as a new map. That should get rid of all ghost brushes, as they cant be selected. If that doesnt work, then its something I cant help you solve. :P
whenever i get void problems, i just surround my map with a Clauk box lol
Dude.. thats a very bad habit..
It will create enormous numbers of portals^^
Yea, but when i'm finishing up the map, i look for the error and remove the box. Its only so i can test the map.
thanks all:rofl: i just used firestorms idea for now to test it.
