Are there really many games that have textures larger than 1024? I don't think I know of any. Game developers are practical, too. They don't use big textures just because they can when they're not necessary.

Oh, I agree with you there completely. Pande going up to 4096x4096 is excessive. But theres no problem doing like 2048x1024 or some such like that depending on the texture. You are indeed right though, many games do not go above 1024. That being said though, most of my current main textures are 1024 converted down to 512 to save texture space as well as increase FPS.

In the end it doesn't really matter what you do for JK3, because the engine's going to make it look crappy either way. =p

Inyri Forge;5372375I didn't realize multiplication tables were so difficult (fyi for this engine you'd never really need to go above 1024, tops).

I'm sure someone did absolutely massive textures (for better detail, I guess) in the region of 4096x4096 and beyond. I'm not sure whether it's worth all the extra effort, but I'm no expert.

That would be me. =p I made a 4096x4096 texture for my old Mustafar map, i used it on the terrain model in the portal sky. Anything smaller and it just kept stretching it wayyy to much, so as to look terrible. Of course, now i know there are better ways, but it served its purpose at the time! ;)
