hi! im new to this forum so a big halo to all!:cya: i have an mod idea i want to share: a disruptor saber!!!!!!!!!!!!:nodding: im having this idea for quit a long time, but no one ever released something like this!:bawl:

in game it should change "NOTHING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it should be more an addition to the death-animation of the oponent! (no freezing like with the disruptor-rifle) when striked down, the oponent still does the "last" moves as usual, but he and/or his bodyparts (when playing with dismemberment) starts dematerialising! i think this give some more visual action on the screen! whatdo u think?

I see what you mean! A lightsaber that when it hits somebody, or even goes so far as to killing them, it makes the entire body vanish as does the disruptor?

That would be cool as hell.

Would need extensive code editing to do. But it could be done.

Server-side too, perhaps. Not sure yet.

This seems like something worth taking up. I would do it, but I lack the coding talent or ability.

I think, however, there is a much, much easier way to do this. What if you just made that the death effect..? In multiplayer, I have disintegrated bodies before with a charged pistol blast. That was after they were dead, but if you don't do that, then they usually just decompose in a forcified way. If you're on the light side, they get all glowy and blueish, and fade away... Sortof. The dark siders die, and decompose with a reddish lightning effect, presumably the energy drain effect.

If that can be done, then the decomposition process can surely be sped up, and the bodies could disintegrate as soon as they die, regardless of what weapon hit them.

It can't be that hard to do, really. All you'd have to do is speed up the decomposition time, and overwrite the old effect with the new one, the disruptor disintegration effect.

At least, that is what I presume, knowing next-to-nothing about code, but I assume that's generally how the process works.

Well, see, you can already disintegrate bodies using your weapons, so it could be likely to just remove the delay in which you can disintegrate them. The problem is, is I haven't found the code controlling that. (Yet, but it does exist somewhere, probably g_combat.c)

So, despite my lack of knowledge about ANYTHING coding wise, I hit it right on the head!?

SWEET!

Come to think of it, ArbModding uses the disintegration effect on death (With sabers, blasters, etc). It's serverside. Feel free to poke around, 'cause I don't remember how I did it. start at g_combat.c -> player_die

Uh, bodies will disintegrate after you hit them with anything, provided the deceased has respawned.
