Hey i have a request for a cool jka map:smokin:
> i want it to have HDR watch this: YouTube - Jedi Academy HDR Test #1 > with detailed textures > and realistic physics (u can use stalax's)
i not a mapper, sorry for inconvinience but if i inspire some of u professional mappers will you make that map?Please...:cya:
By the way where can i get stalax mod i like to study it, the links i've search are dead:bawl:
I want to yell at you, but it's pretty clear that you don't really know enough about mapping to know what you're asking for.
That "HDR" demo looks like a very specific layer of fogs or gradients in the doorway, nothing that would apply to the entire map.
Detailed textures, sure, but most mappers try to use as detailed textures as they can already.
And finally, the "stalax" engine was never completed or released, so it can't be used.
Also, there's no suggestion for a map in your post, just descriptions for general features (most of which aren't possible)
The way I see it, if you'd like a certain map to be made, either request it in earnest, or learn to map yourself :(
Highly detailed textures are reduced to lower quality in game. If you up you graphics settings, the game does not do this.
You can can make a shader line that forces all players to use high quality regardless of what they specify what they want in their graphics settings, but that's kind of pointless.
Why not just let them choose themselves unless it's a specific effect you're going for in a specific spot.
Thats not a map request thats a graphic request. Try to be more specific when you request something as bland (not trying to be rude) as that :).

He was asking for a map to use those graphics.
Well the HDR effect can be applied t ever doorway, but it just is impossible to do in some areas with odd shaped exits.
Basically it is a series of white and black images layered in succession, with black being -100 and white being 100. So the brushes are laid out like so:
100 |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| 0 |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| -100
And so when your on one side, you see the combined effect of all the layering. If your in the middle ish, you see neither, and anywhere in between you see a gradient. I don't believe he used as much as 100 per side though, I think maybe 50 or so.
I suppose one could wait for a mod with advanced pixel shaders and a physics engine combined to be released...There's already a few in progress.
Ok, but this is possible right?
So i should wait for a map to be release like what i said, thnx then...
yeah... but it may be a few years.
I for one am using the hdr effect a la JM in a new map, to make windows have glow.
