Hello,

ZidZabre is currently working on a map for us however we don't have a modeller in the clan that is capable of creating a Jawa statue. I have looked into alternatives such as making a stone like Jawa skin and setting it as a NPC with no personality however if an admin does /npc kill all then obviously that NPC will die too. After looking into other alternatives as well it has become clear we need an actual model.

The model will (as the title says) need to be a map object (md3 I believe) and I would like the Jawa to be stood up with his hands together side by side as if he is trying to collect rain in his hands (If that makes any sense x.x lol) Sort of like the way this map object is standing:

I would like the model to be grey stone if possible, if not I'll give the texturing a shot.

Thank you, SiLink

You could try to convert the original .glm file for the Jawa to an .md3, re-apply (if necessary) the original textures, change said textures, and put it in your map. However, it'll be in the default, no-animation position if you just do it straight off like that, so you'll have to manually move the pieces of the model into place before exporting it.

I've had a look around and sadly I can't seem to find a method for converting glm to md3 which is why I am requesting a modeller to hopefully create something for us ^_^

While I believe that a model would be the best option, it IS possible to script an NPC with an animation pose that will also respawn automatically if killed, thus negating the NPC kill all problem :). I'd resort to this only if you can't get the desired model constructed, though.

Thank you for the suggestion Seto :) I will use that as a last resort if a modeller does not come forward.

I actually first requested a Jawa model back in 2006 so I've been trying to get a hold of one for quite some time (Even before I met Zid and he agreed to create a map for us)

What about .xsi to .md3? Could you do that? 'Cause, you know, there is one contained is this package: Raven Animation and Model Source Files (complete with skeleton I guess, so you could even try to have it strike a pose of your liking with ModTool or something).

That would be a solution yes, but if you're hoping to make the NPC be a huge statue be aware that if you climb to it you can't for example, be at its arm or at his head, you'll be above the NPC like when you are above a player.

Indeed, placing an NPC without any personality settings so he stands still would make the player bounce whenever they jump on top of it. Also it won't have the pose I require ^_^;

If you scaled it appropriately and placed it as nonsolid, you could then do a little manual clipping, similar to how you would with a misc_model type entity, and then you could climb all over it... and the pose is just a matter of finding or making an animation and setting that in the script...

But really, a model would be best =p, I'm just pointing out that there are still ways to do it with an NPC.
