After finishing Virtue's Lightsaber Crafting tutorial (which lead me to a terrible failure and dishonor. My tutorial hilt ended up with 1668 vertex :(), I've atempted creating another saber. Please, don't throw the rocks yet:

I was kinda hopeful with the model while I was UVWmapping it. And also when I was skinning. But I disliked it when I saw it ingame.

And as you can see, the skinning I've done sucks. That yellow ring was due to a shader I was trying to put on. As I know very close to nothing on shading, I had another miserable failure on shading.

If I fail again, I'll quit gaming and dedicate to drinking :beer:

I'd like someone to improve, or even recreate totally the skinning job I've done, to something that fits the model. Shading, changing all the skinning, whatever. Just gimme something cool and I shall be eternally thankfull.

It's so sad to have your model done but no skin to make it look neat ingame :(

1600+ vertices for basically two cylinders? o.O That model should be like... 36 verts based on what I'm seeing... might want to optimize a bit.

Well, as I knew nothing about modelling when I did it, I guess it happened cause I was like, extrude>stop>extrude>stop>extrude... What gave me like five surfaces where should be only one. Oh, and I don't know how to optimize it :) (believe me, I tried) Too bad I don't have you added at MSN anymore. Would be quite a help. Actually, I don't know exactly why I don't, but I guess I should be sorry for bothering so much. By the way, a hilt can overpass 1000 vertex easily. How can one model a sword or something that large that don't?

Well there's an optimize modifier... :p

Otherwise if you have a bunch of edge loops you don't need, select those edges and then remove them. Then select the left-over vertices and remove those. Just make sure to remove the edges before the verts.

D'oh. And here I was hoping it was Saber from Fate/Stay Night. But seeing as I have no knowledge on modeling, I can't really say anything that wouldn't be true. (Maybe)

And on an off-topic note: I hate Seymour. He's an attention whore and he has a funky hairdo.
