For my last project, I plan on tackling the mansion from the game Resident Evil. A few years ago, I attempted to do this, but was largely unsuccessful. This will be my first (and probably only) release intended for Jedi Academy, and not Outcast.

First, a resume of sorts. This spoiler tag has shots of my previous work for Jedi Outcast. Be warned, it's a bit image-heavy. Since the shots of the mansion I have are a bit early and untextured, I'd like to show you what my finished maps look like.

Now that that's out of the way, I'll explain my premise. I'm seeking to redesign the mansion featured in Resident Evil 1/remake/Umbrella Chronicles. I already have a large library of textures I've either created or have received from friends from my previous attempt. I also have some models, but unfortunately I lost a great deal of what my teammates made years ago. I'm seeking resources to enhance the effect of the mansion- ie, player models, new HUD/2d displays, new weapons and stances, etc.

Walking along pathways in the mansion will trigger the spawn of monsters around the player, so the player never quite feels "safe." Players will earn increased point values for killing zombies over each other, as a way of trying to inforce cooperation above competition. I'm still working out how to recreate the Tyrant battle, but I have some ideas. A "self destruct" sequence can be activated, and while the actual map won't be destroyed, explosion .efx files can be activated along with brushes which kill everything in the map. Once the self destruct sequence is activated, players will race to the only safe point- The helicopter.

No client or serverside mod is planned- my original intention is simply assets to add to a regular server mod like JA+ or whatever. If someone wants to design one, this could open up new possibilities for the mod. However, I'm not counting on it.

A note on accuracy. Unlike some of my other maps, I'm being a bit more liberal with my recreation. Textures aren't going for exact replicas, and the scale of the map is slightly increased (that is to say, increased height and width in certain areas to prevent some claustrophobia.) While I will map the laboratory and courtyard in addition to the actual mansion, these areas will be shortened or vary from the original version in slightly more profound ways than the mansion will.

What I have: Map, 2 player models, one weapon

-Sufficient resources to map the entire mansion, an abbreviated courtyard, aqua dome, and laboratory; I'm probably less than 5% done this, for those who like numbers.

-Billy Coen model from RE0 (this was a left-over resource from my previous involvement in a RE mod. I can't remember who modeled this, so I'm going to have to search through some archives to accurately credit the original author.) billy.jpg -Chris Redfield from REmake, before he got maxed out on steroids for RE5. This was modeled by Darth Tempust back in 2005. chris.jpg The model is customizable, with different torsos (ie: code veronica, re1, etc) and whatnot. -STARS beretta, modeled by Plasma, replaces the default pistol.

What I want: Modelers, animators, skinners, and possibly mappers.

-Jill Valentine, Wesker, Barry... any characters would greatly improve the effect here :) Monsters would be amazing, particularly a Tyrant. We thought in my prior mod that making the Tyrant's hand a saber weapon and weighting it to look attached to his body would create an interesting NPC. -At least 3 different zombie models. In my previous resident evil mod, we were toying with some ideas for making the zombie NPC more... zombieish. Modifying movement to default to walking, modifying the up-close force-drain to a bite, and modifying the body to not take damage unless hit in the head. -Dismembered and bloody body parts in the form of .md3 models for use in the map. Anything severed and gross can add wonders here. -HUD. I have from my archives a video from the original RE which plays on the menu screen in place of the default star wars one. -Weapons and stances for them. -Additional maps? Any mappers want to create something ancillary to the mansion?

One last thing: I've found some nice chandelier models which are in .max format. Does anyone know how to convert these to .md3? chandelier 3d models download - 3d models free 3d models download chandelier 3d models download - 3d models free 3d models download

So, yeah! I'm aware that a resi mod was recently started (maybe not recently) and went inactive over the summer. If any of the team members from that mod want to donate anything, I'd greatly appreciate it! Hell, if ANYONE wants to donate anything I'd love it!

I'll also use this thread for continuous updates to the map, and "help" questions. I've got one off the top of my head: Is it possible to create a "lightning" shader? Example: using a window texture to flash bright white at spaced out intervals- but when it flashes, can we make a believable increase in light in the surrounding area?

hey, Nice Idea hopefully this dont gonna die like the Biohazard Thing . The maison realy looks like the One from RE1 . I can help as weapon moddeler ,but I´m not the best at this.But I´ve got a friend who likes Resident Evil and is a good modeler.

I think I've lost most of the stuff we did, christ that stuff is old now lol.

Good luck working on the map again, I can't offer much but I started making some prop models for my L4D resident evil map. I can convert some to .md3 for you if you want them.

Yes, but the mod leader never returned so the mod died. Which is unfortunate, because as far as mapping goes it was coming along quite well!

Plasma: You know, I'll take anything. I'm gonna try to see if I can dig up some of DT's info and see if he has anything. He modeled a dog and rigged it to the howler skeleton, and that was incredible, not to mention his other models.

Anyway, I've got midterms all week and then I have to finish some scholarship work up, then it's smooth sailing til college. I'll probably pick this back up at the start of February and hopefully have at least half of the first floor done after a week- that is, if Dead Space doesnt keep me too occupied.

Anyone interested in helping: Get started! You'll have a week head start, and then I'll be back. But if you think you have something you'd like to make please get started!!
